Elk Grove, California-based technology startup Soar Optics has been named a regional winner in the Cleantech Open Accelerator competition and has advanced to the national semifinals in San Jose, California on October 25, 2022. Soar’s technology detects microplastics in the environment using rapid surface chemical analysis tools. The emerging technology is poised to play a key role in the monitoring and remediation of microplastics as environmental contaminants.
Steve Barnett, Founder and CEO of Soar Optics said, “We are excited that our revolutionary technology to address this critical environmental issue is being recognized by the Cleantech Open judges. The Cleantech Open is the largest accelerator in the cleantech field. We are grateful for their role in helping us advance our product and our company.” Mr. Barnett is also a Founder and General Manager of Elk Grove’s technology-based co-working facility, InnoGrove.
“Soar Optics is exactly the type of home-grown, innovative, early-stage technology company we want to see succeed in Elk Grove and why we started our Startup Elk Grove Program to support similar companies, and why we continue to support InnoGrove,” said Elk Grove’s Economic Development Director Darrell Doan. “I know Steve will represent us well at the Global Forum and we are excited about his company’s potential for rapid growth and positive environmental impacts,” Mr. Doan said.
